Payments essential for City services, thank you
16 January 2025
The City thanks residents who have already paid their municipal accounts this month. We know January is often experienced as the longest and one of the most financially stressful months of the year. Customer payments are what makes Cape Town a city we are proud to call home and allows service delivery to continue. The City urges residents to make use of our convenient online options to save time and make it easier to pay.
'The City relies on customers paying their accounts to carry out the high levels of service delivery which they have come to expect. The City works well and it is because our residents are paying their accounts. The average payment ratio for the 12 months ending 31 December 2024 was 97,98%. This shows that the majority of residents continue to pay their accounts and trust in the City's ability to manage public funds responsibly. Thank you to our customers for their support, payments and the trust placed in the City. Those who are struggling are urged to approach the City for help and everyone is encouraged to make use of our various convenient online payment options.
'As always, we continue to improve our offerings where required. We have implemented a number of measures in the past few months to make it easier than ever for residents to pay their municipal accounts. In addition, we encourage residents to switch to emailed accounts by simply forwarding their email and contact number to: Revenue.Eservices@capetown.gov.za or via SMS to 31223. Customers may also register for all online services via the City's website www.capetown.gov.za.
'We are always trying to make account payments easy for residents. Our large billing system has a 99% accuracy rate and now it is easier than ever to make payments and keep service delivery and this organisation going. We once again urge customers to make use of our new online options,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.
